Project Overview
After two years of operation, over 30 low-cost vacuum load break switches (LBS) in a certain industrial park’s 10kV distribution network faced severe issues. Due to vacuum decay in standard ceramic interrupters (measured at <10-3 Pa) and excessive wear on copper alloy contacts, one unit experienced continuous arcing while breaking a 1250A load. This resulted in burned contacts and insulation sleeves, triggering a phase-to-phase short circuit that cut power to three production lines for 6 hours, causing losses exceeding 400,000 RMB.
Our company implemented the "Arc Extinguishing System Renewal + Intelligent State Perception" solution: All units were replaced with high-vacuum retention interrupters (vacuum degree≤10-4Pa) and copper-chromium alloy contacts (Cr25%), integrated with online vacuum monitoring modules. In the 18 months following the transformation, there have been zero arcing accidents, three successful early warnings for vacuum abnormalities, a 55% reduction in annual O&M costs, and an increase in power supply reliability to 99.995%, thoroughly fortifying the safety barrier of the industrial distribution network.
Exceptional Design · Root Cause Remediation
Empowering Infrastructure Development
This solution has been standardized into the "Technical Guide for Improving the Reliability of Vacuum Switches in Industrial Distribution Networks." It has been applied at scale across 23 industrial parks in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta, with over 800 units modified. To date, it has alerted 67 arc extinguishing hazards, avoiding direct economic losses of over 26 million RMB. By employing the "Material Innovation + State Perception + Precision O&M" trinity strategy, our company drives the transition of distribution switches from "low-price, low-quality" to "high-reliability and predictability," providing a solid guarantee for high-quality power supply in manufacturing and fulfilling our safety mission: "Small equipment guarding large-scale production."
