Arc-Extinguishing System Renewal for 24kV Industrial Park Vacuum LBS: 30 Units Remedied of Arcing Hazards, Annual Loss Avoidance Exceeding 1 Million RMB


Project Overview

In a 24kV industrial park distribution network, over 30 low-cost vacuum load break switches (LBS) experienced an arcing failure just two years after commissioning. The cause was identified as the use of ordinary ceramic interrupters and copper alloy contacts, coupled with a lack of specialized vacuum testing. During load breaking, persistent arcing burned the contacts and triggered a short circuit, resulting in a 6-hour power outage for three production lines and over 400,000 RMB in losses.

Our company implemented the "Arc-Extinguishing Core Renewal + Intelligent Monitoring" solution: all units were replaced with high-vacuum interrupters (vacuum level 10-4Pa) and copper-chromium alloy contacts (Cr25%), integrated with miniature vacuum sensors. Post-transformation results: 18 months with zero arcing accidents, 3 successful early warnings of vacuum anomalies, a 55% reduction in annual O&M costs, and power reliability improved to 99.995%, firmly securing the industrial power supply.

  • Intelligent Status Perception: Built-in vacuum sensors upload real-time data to a cloud platform. Threshold warning accuracy exceeds 95%, providing a 7-day lead time for hazard mitigation.

  • Precision O&M Empowerment: A modular quick-change structure (replacement time per unit < 20 minutes) combined with a contact wear prediction model. Manual inspection frequency reduced by 70%, with a 50% decrease in total lifecycle costs.

Empowering Infrastructure Development

This solution has been standardized into the "Technical Guidelines for Improving Reliability of Vacuum Switches in Industrial Distribution Networks." It has been applied at scale in 32 industrial parks across regions like the Yangtze River Delta and Chengdu-Chongqing, covering over 900 units.
